AREA

- BETWEEN HISTORY, CULTURE AND FUN -

Villa Marina is located in Lido of Venezce, Malamocco, a relaxing but at the same time convenient area for visiting Venice and the other islands of the lagoon such as Murano, Burano and Torcello; from the Lido, in fact, waterbuses leave every 10 minutes to reach Piazza San Marco in just 15 minutes.

The Lido of Venice has always been considered one of the most exclusive places to spend the summer holidays, in fact there were numerous actors who already stayed on the island at the beginning of the 1900s, then also known as the Golden Island; an island that also owes its fame to one of the most important social and cultural events in the world: the Venice Film Festival.

Framed by the Lagoon on one side, and by the Lungomare and the fine golden sandy beaches on the other.

There are several equipped beaches where you can rent umbrellas or “huts”, for lovers of the free beach and nature we recommend the Murazzi, natural rocks on the sea, a natural oasis where you can relax, take a walk or a run, or in summer, sunbathe and swim.

Of particular attention is also the Alberoni Natural Oasis with its splendid trees and its spontaneous flora and the Art Nouveau villas, whose fantastic mosaics applied to the facades take you back in time

HISTORY

- THE ORIGINS OF MALAMOCCO AND THE LAGOON -

Malamocco

Inhabited since ancient times, loved by poets and writers, meeting place of the beau monde since the 1920s: here you can breathe that peaceful, elegant and slightly blasé atmosphere of beautiful places, but unknown to the masses. This is the ancient Metamaucum, the first historical nucleus of Venice, capital of the Duchy of Venice until the 9th century, when the government was moved to the Rialto due to the constant erosion of the sea.

Here you can visit one of the oldest churches on the island dating back to the 12th century, the Church of Santa Maria Assunta, and the Palazzo Podestà where archaeological finds of engraved ceramics are exhibited.

Furthermore, in the first week of July the Festival of Madonna di Marina is celebrated here, a festival of religious origins in which you can taste typical dishes and participate in different activities.

The lagoon

The Serenissima is a planet made up of 118 islets, which all together constitute the constellation of the Venetian Lagoon, which became part of the Unesco World Heritage Site in 1987.

Murano, Burano, Torcello, but not only: those looking for an intimate timeless place to visit will fall in love with San Francesco del Deserto, inhabited by the Friars Minor since 1230, the island where the saint of Assisi is believed to have passed in 1220. Another surprise awaits those who arrive at Sant’Erasmo, the vegetable garden island that has supplied Venice with fruit and vegetables since the sixteenth century. Pellestrina, easily reachable from the Lido, is the other long strip of land that protects the lagoon, a fishing village with colorful houses which also houses the LIPU Ca’ Roman nature reserve, a refuge for particular species of birds and of historical interest for the Forte Barbarigo and the Austrian bunkers.
